The deep well of depression is a metaphor that best describes my perspective of what depression looks like. I believe that before we can begin our journey in healing, we first must gain a conceptual understanding of the anatomical features that make up this ‘dark place’ that serves to mentally incapacitate a person. I believe that this “deep well perspective” exercise can create a catalyst for hope in a disorder that otherwise cultivates many debilitating symptoms, particularly hopelessness.

The diagram below is a graphical representation of my deep well of depression perspective. Within this diagram lies 7 features that make up the anatomy of this deep, dark well:
